Ira Cleveland Rush

Ira C. Rush, 86, of Jackson, passed away Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Monticello House in Jackson.  The Rush family is grateful to the staff of the Monticello House for the compassionate care extended to the family during Ira’s residency at the home.

Ira was born May 12, 1939, in Gosnell, Arkansas to Elvis and Ida Thornton Rush. He and Sylvia Grubbs were married August 19, 1961.  Sylvia survives.

Ira retired from Procter & Gamble in 1996. He was a member of Fruitland Church of Christ and River Valley Carvers Club. He loved carving, painting, fishing, and anything outdoors.

Loving survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sylvia; three children, Teresa (Doug) Brown, Tim (Sharon) Rush, and Jeff (Holly) Rush all of Jackson; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Elwood Rush and Olin Rush; a sister, Mary Warren; and his granddaughter, Megan Emaline Pridemore.

Visitation is from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Friday, August 1, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.   At 11:30 a.m., visitation will pause for sharing of memories by family and friends.  Josh Yates will conduct the funeral service at 12 p.m.  Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
