James Edward "Bulldog" Turner, 84, of Jackson passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at his home.
He was born July 15, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, son of Charles and Irene Runion Turner. He and Patty Stroder Reisenbichler were married June 1, 1999. She survives.
James was mostly known by his nickname "Bulldog." He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1953. He was a member of Emanuel U.C.C. in Jackson. Bulldog was a bricklayer for over 40 years and in the brick trade for over 50 years. He owned and operated QT Masonry in Jackson from 1966 until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion Post 158, a life member of The Jackson Optimist Club, and Jackson Elk's Lodge No. 2652.
Loving survivors include his wife of 17 years; three sons, David (Marilyn) Turner of Jackson, Dennis (Regina) Turner of Washington, Illinois, and Douglas Turner of Jackson; three step daughters, Jennifer (Joel) Wealer of Owings, MD., Emily Reisenbichler of Nashville, Tennessee, Julie (Kevin) Woodruff of Jackson; one step son, Danny Wilkens of Jackson; two brothers, Dwight and Ron Turner; two sisters, Sue Grant and Patsy George; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and five step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karen King; a brother, Calvin Turner; and his second wife, Brenda Kimbel Wilkens Turner.
Friends may call Friday, July 15, 2016 from 10 am to service time at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 2 pm, at the funeral home with Jim Woeltje officiating.
Interment will follow in McLains Chapel Cemetery near Oriole.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to Southeast Hospice.
