James C. Cartee, Jr.

April 13, 1935 — May 20, 2021

James Curtis “Jim” Cartee, Jr., 86, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 13, 1935, in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, to James Curtis Cartee Sr. and Lillie Mae McCreight Cartee.

Jim served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps from December 16, 1953 to December 15, 1956. He later worked as a property and casualty insurance agent in Southeast Missouri.

Survivors include a daughter Layna Kirchner of Jackson; and two grandchildren, Allen and Cambree Kirchner.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial visitation will be Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Visitation will conclude with the observance of Military Honors.

Burial is at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau or the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program.
