James Walter “Jim” Daume

James Walter "Jim" Daume, 67, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2015 at St. Mary’s Health Center in St. Louis.

Jim was born Aug. 2, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Walter H. and Anna Marie Nebel Daume. He married the love of his life and best friend Diann Denton at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau on July 20, 1968.

Jim grew up in Cape Girardeau. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State College with degrees in physics and mathematics. In Nov. 1971 he received a commission in the United States Navy where he served for twenty years flying the P-3 Orion, retiring as a Commander. After his service in the Navy, Jim went to work in the Facility Management Department on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University, retiring in 2009. Jim was a charter member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. He served as an Elder, Usher, Chairman of the Building Committee and for several years on the Board of Directors. He was also called to participate on a mission trip to Kenya as well as Alabama. Jim was an avid blood donor, continuing that tradition of giving even after his death by being an organ/tissue donor.

Loving survivors include his wife of 47 years Diann, a son, Rich (Katrina) Daume of Portland, Oregan, a daughter, Marla Stover, of St. Peters, Missouri, a brother, Wayne (Becky) Daume of Cape Girardeau and a sister, Jean Ann Brown of Hillsborough, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Lucy Daume, Dylan, Maverick and Carter Stover as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call Saturday, Nov. 14, from 8:30 am to 12 noon at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Nov 14, at 2:22 pm, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Dehne officiating.

Interment will follow in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with full military honors.
