James Martin Jost

James Martin Jost, 73, of Jackson, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Saturday, February 11, 2023, at St. Francis Medical Center.

James was born February 28, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, son of Martin and Bessie (Chapman) Jost. He and Doris Holmes were married August 15, 1970, in St. Louis, Missouri. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Dana Jost.

James was an Industrial Arts teacher, having taught at Meadow Heights, Perryville, and Union school districts. He also served as a principle for Marquand High School.

James was a member of the Jackson Trial Riders, the Gateway Leather Guild, and a lifetime member of S.A.S.S. He volunteered for the Girl Scout Horsemanship Program and the Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship Program.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023, from 10:30 AM until time of service at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 12:30, at the funeral home, with Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
