James Macke

James Owen Macke, 91, passed away on September 16, 2026 at Independence Care Center in Perryville, MO. He was born in Jackson, MO, on October 22, 1934 to the late Wiley and Esther (Rauh) Macke.

He was survived by his nieces and nephews, John (Sharon) Haertling, Susan McClain, Sally (Bob) Sullivan, and Joyce Macke; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; siblings, Thomas (Iola) Macke, Mary (Melbert) Haertling, and Paul Macke; and a great-niece.

James had the “gift of gab,” never met a stranger, and loved attending cousin reunions. He was especially proud of his father’s service in the Navy and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

His second home became Terrace Gardens, where he was not only a resident but a family member who was loved by the staff and his fellow residents. Our family is indebted for their care of Jim.

Visitation will be at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service following at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
