James Donald Turner

James Donald Turner, 98, of Jackson, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Hubble Creek Skilled Nursing Home in Jackson.

He was born July 11, 1927, in Oak Ridge to Pier and Ruby (Cotner) Turner. He was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School.

James Donald Turner and Sara Rose Propst were married March 5, 1955, in Jackson. Their union was blessed with three children: Donna, and twins, James and Jane.

James was a farmer in Oak Ridge all his life. He was member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fruitland.

Loving survivors include his three children, Donna (Phil) Kerig of Boerne, Texas, James (Karen) Turner of Jackson, Jane (Randy) Eggimann of Gordonville; three grandchildren, Mason Turner, Molly (Jake) Long, Blake (Macy) Eggimann; a great-granddaughter, Everleigh Eggimann; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Also surviving is sister-in-law Sandy Turner.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sara Rose Turner, James’s parents, his brothers: Burnell (Elizabeth), Paul (Hester) Turner, and John.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Dr. Rodney Pensel assisted by James’s grandson Rev. Blake Eggimann will conduct the funeral service at 1 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. John’s United Church of Christ.
