Janet Etta Schuette, 85, passed away Monday, July 13, 2026, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 8, 1941, in Jackson to Paul and Verna Neislein Myers.

She graduated from Jackson High School in 1959, and married her high school sweetheart, Jerry L. Schuette, on Aug. 17, 1959.

She retired from Southeast Hospital after 26 years of service in 2011.

Janet was a loving wife, mother and grandmother with a beautiful soul. She enjoyed spending her time with family and friends, touching so many hearts along her life’s journey with her friendliness and smile. She was crafty, artistic, fashionable, fun, loving, caring and kind. Janet stayed busy, and looked forward to Thursday coffee with her lady friends and volunteering at The Cape Girardeau County History Center.

Loving survivors include her husband of nearly 67 years, Jerry Schuette; her three children, Dennis (Patty) Schuette of Friedheim, Janice (Patrick) Jeffries of Arnold and Teresa (Robert) Camp of Friendswood, Texas; eight grandchildren Desirae (Johnny) Cook, Danielle Schuette (Matt Seiler), Eric Jeffries, Ryan (Sara) Jeffries, Alex Jeffries, Andrew Camp, Bryden Camp and Carson Camp; five great-grandchildren, Koby, Aubrey and Lawsyn Cook, MaKayla Rangel and Zoey Jeffries; brother-in-law, Tom (Shawnna) Steele of Gardner, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Nancy Schuette of Jackson and Barb Schuette of Williston, North Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Don Schuette.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon Monday, July 20, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. Pastor Joshua Schmidt will be officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eric, Ryan and Alex Jeffries, Andrew, Bryden and Carson Camp and Koby Cook

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Janet’s honor to the American Cancer Society, St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Cape Girardeau County History Center.
