Jason Michael St. John, 38, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at his home.

He was born May 25, 1979 in Galveston, Texas, to Michael Dayton and Alma Louise Bowman St. John. He and Beth Roethemeyer were married June 14, 2003, at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.

Jason was a 1997 graduate of Jackson High School, where he wrestled, played football and wrote for The Squawler . In 2004, he received a bachelor of education in English from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

He worked many years as a life insurance agent with Bankers Life and Casualty in Cape Girardeau. He was a faithful member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, where he currently served as church council president, sang in the adult choir and devoted his time to many activities of the church.

Jason was a loving husband and devoted father. He loved to make people laugh, enjoyed coaching his daughters' soccer teams and spending time with family and friends.

Loving survivors include his wife of 14 years, Beth St. John of Jackson; two daughters, Katherine "Katy" St. John and Margaret "Maggie" St. John of the home; beloved family pet, their weiner dog, Oscar; his mother, Louise St. John of Jackson; maternal grandmother, Bertha (the late Dr. Conley) Bowman of Sikeston; three siblings, Mike St. John of Houston, Texas, Kimberli (Shawn) Taylor of Jackson and Kristi (Jay) Holtrop of Alexandria, Virginia; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Sam and Marilee Roethemeyer of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Christy (Geoff) Shinn of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Matt (Diana) Roethemeyer of Jackson; six nephews and nieces, Hannah Fisher, Hannah, Lydia and Gavin Shinn, Lincoln and Henley Roethemeyer; a great-niece, Avery Miller; special extended family, Stephania Doggett and Will Letterman; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael D. St. John.

The visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, with the Revs. Joe Rowley and Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to EUCC, the Margaret Puchbauer Scholarship Fund, or to Beth St. John for the education of Katy and Maggie.
