Jerlene Margie (Maevers) Hutteger

Jerlene Margie “Jerry” Hutteger, 89, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021 at Life Care Centers of Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 6, 1931 in Tilsit, daughter of August and Amanda Nagel Maevers.  She and Wilbert “Wib” Hutteger were married Dec. 15, 1949.  He passed away Dec. 19, 2010.

Jerry was a 1949 graduate of Jackson High School.  She was the cafeteria manager at R.O.Hawkins Junior High School in Jackson, from 1964 until retirement in 1996. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a former member of St. Paul Concordia Guild.  Jerry enjoyed many years bowling in the Jackson Lanes Friday Night Women’s League, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Becky (Al) Klob of Jackson, two sons, David (Judy) Hutteger of Cape Girardeau and Rick (Cathy) Hutteger of Jackson; a brother, Lester (Ruth) Maevers of Jackson; grandchildren, Amanda (Randy, Jr.) Morris, Emily (Brian) Steele, Dustin (Jordan) Hutteger, Megan (Jeremy) Wulfers, Courtney Klob (Chad Kinder), Kim (Scott) Sander, and Christina Klob; 18 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild (with one on the way); many nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Stacy Schlegel Meyr of St. Louis.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Lohmann and two brothers, Norman and Arlen Maevers.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Monday, Feb. 1, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at the church, with the Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family would like to say a very special “thank you” to Saint Francis Hospice and Life Care Centers of Cape Girardeau, for the excellent care, attention, and friendship that was shown to Jerry and her family, during their time of need.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church, or St. Paul Radio Fund, or Saint Francis Hospice.

McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
