Jerry Wayne Baker, 73, of rural Jackson, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born February 23, 1953, in Cape Girardeau, to Grover Sr. and Sarah Mecham Baker. He attended Lutesville Schools and Jackson High School.
While working at Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau, he met his wife, Joyce Masterson. They were married January 30, 1971. She survives, of the home, along with grandson, Justin Tuschhoff.
Jerry was employed at Square Post Buildings in Chaffee. He then began driving a truck, first for Harold Hines, K & R Lumber, and then Timber Export (now Altenburg Hardwood and Lumber) in Altenburg, Missouri.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, crappie fishing, gardening, going to shooting matches with his buddies, and working around his farm, taking care of his cattle and chickens.
Loving survivors include his wife, Joyce; daughters, Patricia Pendergrass, Christine (Vincent) Aldridge, and Jennifer (Scott) Dickerson; grandchildren, Justin Tuschhoff, Sabrina (Cody) Stuhr, and Ariel Dickerson; a sister, Carolyn (Michael) Welker; a brother, Grover Jr. (Sue) Baker; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, and extended family members.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to service time, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Chris Wehrenberg will conduct the funeral service at noon on Tuesday, June 2. Interment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
