Jerry Mac Schreiner, 83, of De Soto, Missouri, formerly of Oak Ridge, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at his home in De Soto. He was born March 31, 1940, in Cape Girardeau, to Irvin T. and Clara E. Wilkening Schreiner. He was a 1957 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. On August 28, 1965, he and Laverne R. Koeberl were married at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. Their union was blessed with three children, Cary, Cheryl, and Chris. They had been married nearly 33 years when Laverne passed away August 20, 1998. On June 15, 2002, Jerry married Dorothy "Dottie" Enke Johnson. She survives. Jerry worked many years at Procter and Gamble and was proud to have been selected to be part of the Emergency Medical Team at the plant. He also worked as a painting contractor and an electrician. He was known as "Mr. FIX-IT" for his knack of being able to repair just about anything. He especially enjoyed farming and taking care of the family farm near Oak Ridge. His other affiliations in Oak Ridge included: volunteer fireman, fire chief, president of the school board, 4-H leader and 4-H volunteer. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, where he was active as a youth sponsor, president of the congregation, elder, and Sunday School Superintendent. The past several years, he attended Sargent's Chapel Lutheran Church near Daisy. Loving survivors include his wife, Dottie Schreiner of De Soto; his three children: Cary (Lori) Schreiner of Fenton, Missouri; Cheryl (Steve) Venable of Alpharetta, Georgia; and Chris (Lisa) Schreiner of Creve Coeur, Missouri; grandchildren, Katie and Jacob Schreiner, Nate Venable, Evan and Marisa Schreiner; step-children: Pam Johnson of St. Louis, Tracie (Steve) DeClue of De Soto, and Keith (Kami) Johnson of Festus; step-grandchildren: Kaelin, Hannah, Cody, Kendahl, and Kegan; step-great-grandchildren, Silas and Grayson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laverne; his parents; and siblings, Alene Bollinger, Roger, Harold, Donald, and Shirley Schreiner. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2023, and from 9:30 a.m. to service time, Saturday, December 2, 2023, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pocahontas. If considering a memorial donation, the family suggests contributions to Sargent's Chapel Lutheran Church.
