Jerry Lee Wendel, 76, of Sedgewickville passed away February 23, 2024, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Jackson. He was born September 4, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, son of Wilburn and Frieda Schlegel Wendel. He and Patsy Stearns were married June 8, 1968. She passed away March 10, 2023. Jerry was a graduate of Jackson High School and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. He worked as a driver for Purolator, then worked construction, and many years at Proctor and Gamble. Loving survivors include three children, Angie Scott of Jackson, two sons Chris Wendel and Darrin Wendel both of Sedgewickville; 5 grandchildren, Caleb Wendel, Dylan Scott, Haleigh Wendel, Lucas Wendel and Taylor Scott He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife Patsy Wendel, and sister Donna McDowell. Memorial Visitation will be February 29, 2024, from 3:00-5:00 pm at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Memorials may take the form of contributions to American Cancer Society.
