Jewell Froemsdorf, 93 of Jackson, passed away Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born October 31, 1931 in Cape Girardeau the daughter of Louie and Grace Fitzpatrick Kraust.
She and Gerald “Sonny” Froemsdorf were married February 21, 1952, in Cape Girardeau County. They had been married 41 years when he passed away on September 1, 1993.
Jewell attended College High School. She was a 4H leader and a member of the Helping Hand Club and Extension Club. Wife, mother, grandma and mawmaw Jewell’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Her home was always open, serving as a gathering place for family and friends. She instilled her strong values and religious beliefs in her family. She led by example, not just for her children and grandchildren but for several foster children she accepted as her own. Jewell was a talented seamstress and has a passion for sewing. Her meticulous craftsmanship was evident in the many custom-made dresses, tailoring and alterations she did for countless family and friends. Jewell also made clothes for outreach ministries.
Loving survivors include her children, Diane (Steve) Bowles of Jackson, Susan (Dave) Tucker of Thebes, Illinois, Bruce (Connie) Froemsdorf of Waialua, Hawaii, Rhonda (Scott) Kirn of Jackson, and Curt (Elainna) Froemsdorf of Jackson; eight Grandchildren, Brian (Carly) Bowles, Crystal (Deric) Brown, Amy Froemsdorf (Kevin Flesher), Jordan (Jonathan) Cunningham, Lauren Lysell, Doug (Dasiy) Froemsdorf, Mike Silverman, Jimmy Silverman; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister Doris Nance.
Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Elizabeth (the late Tom) Froemsdorf and a brother-in-law Don (the late Becky) Heuer.
Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, a son, three grandchildren, four siblings, her twin, Yewell Kraust, Veda Lemmon, Euveda Niswonger and Vella Ford; Gerald’s parents, Henry and Elizabeth Froemsdorf, and his brothers Doug and Tom Froemsdorf and his sister, Becky Heuer.
The visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Roger Niswonger will conduct the funeral service at 12 p.m., on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the church or charity of donor’s choice.
