Jimmie D. Smith, 77, of Jackson, passed away Friday August 21, 2020 at his home in Jackson.   He was born August 23, 1942, in Senath, Missouri, to William “Bill” and Gladys Dye Smith. He and Sandra Jean Mungle were married November 27, 1982, in Jackson.

Jimmie served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1960 -1963, during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He owned and operated JDS Mechanical Heating and Cooling in Jackson, retiring in 2011.  He was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching car races.

Loving survivors include his wife of 37 years, Sandra Smith of Jackson; a stepson, Kyle (Linda) Brotherton of Jackson; a sister, Anna Sue Singleton of Collinsville, Illinois; two grandchildren, Jason (Holly) Floyd and Jena (Jacob) Scholl; three great grandchildren, Sydnie and Colt Floyd, and Ellie Scholl; numerous nieces and nephews; and his little dachshund, Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond and William Smith; and five sisters, Alphia Borah, Juanita Swain, Wanda Mabry, Dorothy Stoke and Aline Harbison.

Visitation is from noon to service time, Sunday, August 23, 2020, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral is at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2020, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.  Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
