Joann L (Rhodes) Bollinger

March 27, 1935 — March 12, 2025

Jackson, Missouri

Joann L. Bollinger, 89, of Jackson, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the Villas of Jackson in Jackson. She was born March 27, 1935, in Marble Hill, Missouri, to Webster "Webb" and Ina Cook Rhodes. Joann was a 1953 graduate of Patton High School. Her first marriage was to Don Kremer on June 13, 1954. They had one son, Rick. Don passed away October 29, 1970. Joann and Lenzel "Ray" Bollinger were married July 30, 1971. Ray passed away December 3, 2003. Joann and Roy W. Stroder were married September 12, 2009. Roy passed away March 26, 2012. For many years, Joann worked in commercial lines insurance in Cape Girardeau and Perryville. At age 5, she started playing the piano by ear - it came naturally to her, and she later learned to read music. Any key was fine with Joann, and she always added her own special touches to give flair and interest to the music. Joann was always faithful to Christ though church membership at Little Whitewater Baptist Church, United Methodist Church in Sedgewickville, and Shawnee Hills Baptist Church in Jackson. She also played the piano and wrote and directed Christmas Cantatas. In addition, she accompanied her siblings, "The Rhodes Sisters", and multiple southern gospel quartets through Southeast Missouri. In later years, as a resident of the Monticello House and most recently Jackson Villas, she brought joy through playing the piano at church services. To cherish her memory, she leaves six children, Rick Kremer of Sedgewickville; Steve Bollinger (Martha McNeely) of Durham, North Carolina; Sid (Lee) Bollinger of Sedgewickville; Rick (Robin) Stroder of Kansas City, Missouri; Connie (Mike) Brothers of Jackson; and Gayle (Steve) Leuschke of Effingham, Illinois; three sisters, Lois (late Henry C. "Pete) Lincoln of Millersville; Linda (Wayne) Johnson, and Vickie (late John) Miinch of Sedgewickville; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Erma (Glen) Oberlin; Don's parents, Russell and Esther Kremer; Ray's parents, Columbus and Chloe Bollinger; and Roy's parents, Elmer D. and Grace A. Stroder. Visitation is from 10:30 to service time, Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Revs. Don Estes and Alex Niswonger will conduct the funeral service at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, at the funeral home.
