Joanne Roberts, 74, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at her home in Jackson.
She was born January 27, 1943, in Fancy Farm, Kentucky, to Herman J. "Joe" and Anne O. Hobbs Brumlow. Joanne was raised in Fancy Farm and attended school there. She and Richard L. Roberts were married August 21, 1962, in Brookport, Illinois. Five children were born to their union.
Joanne was a homemaker and Richard's career was in the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and Army National Guard, so the family lived in several states. They resided longest in Sikeston, Missouri, where Joanne volunteered at the Sikeston Public Library. Upon moving to Jackson in 2011, she volunteered at the Regional Library in Jackson.
Joanne and Richard enjoyed square-dancing and line-dancing. They were active with the Thunderbird Square-Dance Club and the Hi Cot'n Western Dance Club in Sikeston, and the Country Club Western Dancers in Jackson
Loving survivors include her husband of 54 years, Richard of Jackson; five children: Rita M. Roberts of St. Louis; Rollin L. (Marcella) Roberts of Brookhaven, Mississippi; twins, Jason M. Roberts of Jackson and Jerry M. Roberts of Cape Girardeau; and Susan B. (Corey) Cantwell of Navarre, Florida; seven grandchildren; and seven siblings, Margie, June, Frances, Nettie, Larry, Leon, and Junior.
She was preceded in death by a brother, David.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m., to service time, Sunday, March 5, 2017, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Craig Petzoldt officiating.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
