Joel Donald Parris Jr., age 56, of Jackson, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Born on August 11, 1969, in St. Louis, Missouri, Joel was a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, whose personality and love for life touched all who knew him.
Joel was a dedicated salesclerk and was well-known among his friends and community for his passion for selling sports cards, both in person and on eBay. His hobbies were a testament to his zest for life; he loved storm chasing, fishing, and watching his favorite sports teams, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. A fervent admirer of NASCAR and the legendary Dale Earnhardt.
He had a knack for creating laughter and enjoyed setting off fireworks and playfully scaring people with his antics. Music held a special place in his heart, and he loved nothing more than a night of karaoke with family and friends.
Joel's true pride and joy were his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved to show off. As a proud "Paw Paw," he cherished every moment spent with them and would often express his immense pride in their achievements.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Ruth and Larry McNeely of Bradenton, Florida; his sister, Tammy Evans (Tony) of Pikeville, NC; and his daughters, Autumn Smith (Coty) of Poplar Bluff and Aubrey Parris of Keyesport, IL. Grandchildren, Lily Clatt, LucyAnna Clatt, Kingston Parris, and Allie Smith. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews — Jordan(Mitch) Fornecker, Michael Stackle, Kyle Evans, Megan Garmon, Jana Gean, and Kali Owen — along with five great-nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Joel was preceded in death by his father, Joel Donald Parris Sr.; his baby brother, Jason Parris; and his sister-in-law, Jamie Parris.
