John Monroe Hodge

Formerly of New Hamber, most recently of Kennett, Missouri

John Monroe Hodge, 77, of Kennett, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021, at Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett, Missouri.

He was born June 16, 1944, in Delta, Missouri, to Elery Lee and Lora “Delo” Dunn Hodge.

John attended school in New Hamburg and later attended Southeast Missouri State University in which he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree.  He honorably served four years in the U.S. Navy.

John’s employment included Nickens Pharmacy in Chaffee and Advance, and Fru-Con Construction.  He resided in Kennett the past 22 years.

Loving survivors include two siblings, Nelda (the late Wayne) Gross of Jackson and Richard (Carol) Hodge of Chaffee; his former wife, Alice Botkin of Kennett; an adopted daughter, Amy McGee of Scott City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings, Lena Lou Ancell, Velma, Tom E., Joe, and Bill Hodge, and Ray and Roy Hodge (twins); and a nephew, Kevin Ancell.

The Rev. Bill Minor will officiate a private graveside service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Fruitland.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The family has entrusted McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center with John’s final arrangements.
