John Richard “Rick” Kight, 69, of Marble Hill, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born September 6, 1956, in Delta, Missouri, to John U. and Pauline (Croy) Kight. He was a 1974 graduate of Delta High School and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Delta. In his early years, he enjoyed his baby-blue Duster and always regretted parting with it.
Rick married Sherry Wilke on February 4, 1989, at Millersville Methodist Church.
Rick worked nearly 30 years at Walmart as a meat cutter, retiring in 2018.
Rick was exceedingly proud of his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife of 36 years, Sherry Kight of Marble Hill; children, Matthew Kight and Chelsey Kight, both of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Peyton, Blaine, Mia, Ace, and Gibson Kight, Ryder and Kyx Young; siblings, Fred (Saundra) Kight of Whitewater; Scott (Cathy) Kight of Jackson; Kieth (Kim) Kight of Leopold; sisters-in-law, Sharon (late Stanley) Kight of Whitewater and Karen (late Danny) Kight of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Ryan; siblings, Herman, Stanley “Rex”, Bobby (Peggy), and Danny Kight, and his parents.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Rev. Josiah Mazzell will conduct the funeral service at 11a.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pulliam Cemetery near Scopus.
Serving as pallbearers are Matthew, Peyton, Blaine, Randol, and Shelby Kight and Ryder Young. Honorary pallbearers are Kyx Young, Mia, Ace, and Gibson Kight, Tom Schlosser, and Neil Wilke.
If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
