John Paul Springer

John Paul Springer, 86, of Jackson passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born April 24, 1937, in Jasper, Arkansas, son of Paul and Lucille Owens Springer. He and Bernice Mary Horrell were married August 3, 1968. He was a 1956 graduate of Tulsa Central High in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After he graduated he entered the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1978. He and his family then settled in Jackson. John worked at Lenco in the electronics division until they closed in 1990. He then worked at Link Electronics until his retirement. He and his wife loved to travel across the United States. John will be remembered as a charismatic story teller about growing up in Arkansas, his time in the service and life's journey. Loving survivors include his wife, Bernice; a daughter and son - in - law, Kristine Springer and Andy Schmidt of Granger, Indiana; a grandson, Ben Schmidt of Granger; a sister Janis (Kenneth) Ishmael of Canton, Texas and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Lou, Judith Ann and Carrie Sue and an infant brother, Bud. There will be no services. Arrangements by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Memorials may be made to Safe House For Women in Cape Girardeau or Salvation Army.
