John Charles Weems

John Charles Weems, age 82, of Frohna, Missouri passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at his home.

He was born January 10, 1936, in Stotesbury, Missouri, son of Silas "Lee" and Helen Jennie Wietrick Weems. He and Holly Hendricks were married March 25, 1989.

John was a 1954 graduate of The American School High School in Kaiser-Slautern, Germany and then received an engineering degree from the University of Missouri Rolla School of Engineering in 1958. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1959 and was honorably discharged as 1st lieutenant in 1962. After his military service, John worked at McDonnell Douglas, retiring from Boeing in 1998. In 2000, he and Holly purchased a farm in Frohna, where they enjoyed country living and raised cattle. He always described himself by saying, "I'm a simple country boy engineer."

Loving survivors include his wife, Holly Weems of Frohna and a daughter, Melanie Datz of Chicago, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Weems.

The visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time Saturday, February 17, 2018 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with Ed Grooms conducting the service.

Cremation was accorded by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The family suggests that contributions be made to University of Missouri Science and Technology, College of Engineering and Computing.
