Jovanna Kay Mathews

Jovanna Kay Mathews, 77 of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, August 15, 2025 at Chateau Girardeau.

She was born January 20, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of E.D. and Daisy Miller Statler.

Jovanna graduated from Flat River High School and Flat River Jr. College. She received a bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting and office management from Southeast Missouri University. She was an avid gardner and enjoyed dancing to the Jitterbug.

Loving survivors include a daughter Jennifer (Marshall) Steen of Jackson, two grandchildren Joseph and Scarlett Steen; two sisters Jan (John) Stennett of Dittmer, Missouri and Joyce Baker of Park Hills Missouri.

Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may take the form of contribution to Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association.

Cremation will be accorded by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. There will be no services.
