Joy Susan McIntyre

Joy Susan McIntyre, 87, of Jackson, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Hubble Creek Nursing Home in Jackson.

She was born July 27th, 1939, in Sedgewickville, Missouri, to Charley and Dessie Garland Crites.

Joy and Orville L. McIntyre, Sr. were married June 22nd, 1963, in Granite City, Illinois. Through their marriage, Joy became stepmother to Orville’s two sons, Orville “Butch” and Norman. Joy and Orville shared nearly 45 years of marriage before his passing on March 29th, 2008.

Joy was a loving wife, stepmom, sister, and aunt who treasured time spent with family and friends. She enjoyed thrifting and antiquing, cooking up a good meal, and sprucing up her yard. Some of her favorite moments were spent sitting and chatting with her longtime friend Joyce McIntyre and taking walks in the park with her faithful canine companion, Mitzie. Joy was also a dedicated employee of Rubbermaid in Jackson, where she worked until her retirement. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making those around her laugh.

Loving survivors include her sister, Clara (Ray) Mills; her devoted niece, Terri (Rick) McGuire; several other nieces and nephews; two stepsons, Orville “Butch” (Pam) McIntyre and Norman (Linda) McIntyre; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville L. McIntyre, Sr.; her parents, Charley and Dessie Crites; three brothers, Caroll Crites, Larry Crites, and Harold Crites; and two sisters, Leona Douglas and Norma Mungle.

A memorial visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10th, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Odis Long.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Salem Cemetery in Daisy, Missouri.
