Judith "Judy" Ann Burford, 80, of Burfordville passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025. She was born August 21, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Martin E. and Meta Bingenheimer Meyr. She was raised in Pocahontas, where her father operated a general store. She cherished the time she spent there with him. She and McRichard "Bud" Burford were married on September 25, 1965, in Jackson. They were married 55 years when he passed away on February 3, 2021. Judy was a member and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, where she also attended school. She was a 1962 graduate of Jackson High School. Judy served as a clerk at the Jackson post office for 23 years, during which she took great pride in assisting the community. She retired from the post office in 2007. Loving survivors include her two children, Tom (Brenda) Burford of Burfordville and Lori (Joey) Johnson of Jackson; two grandchildren, Sloane and Tallis Johnson of Jackson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Meta Meyr and siblings, Renata Brockmann, Paul (Virgina) Meyr, Wilma (Ben) Rudert, Milton Meyr, Erna (Lloyd) Schattauer and Harlin (Margaret) Meyr; nephew, Keith Schattauer and a niece, Debbie Meyr. The visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday, May 9, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Rev. Joshua Schmidt will conduct the memorial service at 1 p.m., on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the funeral home. The burial will be private. The family suggests that contributions be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or St. Paul Lutheran School.
