Julia Lynn Woeltje

Julia Lynn Woeltje, 52, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She passed away quietly and peacefully after a long illness.

She was born October 4, 1963 in Neubruecke, Germany, daughter of Darryl Keith and Maureen Gail Peirano Gerstner. She and David W. Woeltje were married October 1, 1988.

Julia lived her youngest years on U.S. Army posts where her father was stationed. She loved telling stories about her happy childhood and credited her parents with her experiences. Julia attended school in St. Louis and graduated from Northwest High School in Jefferson County, Missouri. She then attended SEMO University in Cape Girardeau, specializing in business organization. After she and David were married, she assisted him in the family business, Midway Auto Body. In 1998, they welcomed their son, Adam. Julie was an enthusiastic, dedicated mother – a role she cherished. She worked tirelessly during Adam's Boy Scout years as a den leader, and gained lifelong friendships with other dedicated mothers.

Loving survivors include her husband of 27 years, David; a son, Adam of Cape Girardeau; her mother, Maureen Gerstner of Bonne Terre, Missouri; a brother, John Gerstner of Arnold, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Deanna (James) Long of Jackson; and a brother-in-law, Dennis (Sheryl Smith) Woeltje of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.

The visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday, September 3, 2016 in chapel B of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home with Rev. Nancy Smith officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
