Karen E. Statler, age 71, of Jackson, formerly of Sedgewickville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at her home.
She was born February 18, 1945 in Cape Girardeau, daughter of W.L. "Wib" and Ruth Conrad Barks. She and Glenn Statler were married March 21, 1969 at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson.
Karen was a 1963 graduate of Patton High School. She worked at Mid-South Steel in Jackson, and retired while working as a cashier at Walmart in Jackson. Karen was a member of Sedgewickville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed shopping and singing in the church choir.
Loving survivors include her husband of 47 years, Glenn; a son, Jon Statler (friend, Amy Yount) of Advance; two daughters, Allison (Keith) Shrum of Millersville and Kristen (Joe) Taylor of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Brittany and Nathan Shrum, Josh M. Statler, and a granddaughter, Ashleigh Marie Taylor, expected to arrive in May; a sister, Tammy (Bobby) Kern of Jupiter, Florida, three sisters-in-law, Joy Engelhart of Jackson, Mary Statler of Pace, Florida, and Judith Statler of New London, Missouri; an aunt, Helen Hampton of Sedgewickville; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Gary Barks in 1997, and an infant sister, Kathleen Barks.
The visitation will be from 4-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2016 in Chapel A at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 10 a.m. until service time at Sedgewickville United Methodist Church on Friday, December 16, 2016.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the church with the Revs. Anthony Stewart and Roger Cary officiating.
Interment will be in Sedgewickville Garden of Memories.
