Kelly V. Gohn

Kelly V. Gohn, 93, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

The youngest of six children, Kelly was born March 6, 1927, in Lutesville, Missouri, to Henry “Pearl” and Lucy Hill Gohn.   He and Virginia Lee Lincoln were married June 9, 1954.  Two daughters were born to their union, Nancy and Beverly.  They had been married 65 years when Virginia passed away November 23, 2019.

Kelly was a graduate of Lutesville High School.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving honorably from May 30, 1945 to November 6, 1946.

From 1950-1962, Kelly worked at the Lincoln-Mercury Plant in St. Louis.  In 1963, he attended the Moler Barber College. The Gohn family moved to Jackson and Kelly worked 14 years for Superior Electric and later at Lee-Rowan, retiring in 1996.  He also operated a barber shop from his home many years.

The Gohn’s were faithful members of First Baptist Church in Jackson.

Loving survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Darwin) Lape and Beverly (Fred) McWilson of Jackson; five grandchildren: Chris (Jessica) Lape and children Shaina, Emmett, Benjamin and Kodi Ann of Marble Hill; Scott (Stefanie) Lape and children Paige and Dawson of Marble Hill; Drew (Sierra) McWilson and children Rónán and Eóghan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Lance (Kristen) McWilson and son Grant of Colorado Springs; Courtney McWilson and son Wilson of Jackson; and a sister, Ina Nuckles of Richmond, Virginia..

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and four siblings Earl, Glen, and Elvis Gohn, and Mildred Wyman.

Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. to service time, Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service is at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Francis officiating.  Interment and military rites will follow at Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery in Marble Hill.
