Kenneth Wachter

Kenneth Benjamin Wachter, 77, of Jackson passed away August 23, 2025, at his home.

He was born November 28, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, son of Otto “Chip” and Lillian Haertling Wachter. He and Carolyn S. McGill were married on September 8, 2012.

Kenneth attended Jackson High School. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells, and later baptized at First General Baptist Church. Kenneth worked as a farmer and truck driver throughout his life. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, particularly Jimmy Johnson. He also enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Loving survivors include his wife, Carolyn S. Wachter of Jackson; a daughter, Shelly Wren of Jackson; two sisters, Marlene Scholl of Cape Girardeau and Janet (Steve) Statler of Jackson; three granddaughters, Kaley (Dustin) Elliott of Modesto, Illinois, Abigail (Joshua) Hightower of Montgomery Village, Maryland, Julia Budt of Frederick, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Paxton River Elliott of Modesto, Salah Rain Hightower of Montgomery Village, Waylon Paul Elliott of Modesto, Sirae Skye and Solen Storm Hightower of Montgomery Village; stepchildren, Lisa (Tim) Dowdy of Jackson, James (Whitney) McGill of Paducah, Kentucky and Donna Williams of Cape Girardeau; 12 step grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Kristy LeAnn Budt; two brothers, Charley and Marty Wachter and baby girl Wachter.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Mike Huffman will conduct the funeral service at 10 a.m., on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in New Wells.

The family suggests that contributions be made to First Arbor Baptist Church.
