Kimberly L. Schmidt

Kimberly L. Schmidt, 55, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026, at her home.

The second of two children, Kim was born February 13, 1971, in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, to Richard F. III and Nina Feuerborn Schmidt.

Kim was a graduate of Jackson High School. She earned a master's degree in social work from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Kim was employed as a financial counselor at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She previously worked at Shriners’ Hospital for Children in Kirkwood, Missouri.

She deeply cared for her fur babies, Jessie, GiGi, Lanie, Bentley, and Lola.

Loving survivors include her brother, Richard F. IV (Tyra) Schmidt of Cape Girardeau, and their children, Kalei, Brayden, and Madei, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A casual memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
