Kirk L. Henrickson was born September 9, 1948, in Willmar, Minnesota, and passed away July 11, 2025, in Cape Girardeau Missouri. A beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, Kirk lived a life marked by compassion, a sense of duty, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting those around him.
After graduating from Willmar High School and Willmar Community College, Kirk attended Bemidji State University, where he earned a teaching degree in history. His diverse career path reflected his love for people and ranged from building silos to crabbing in Florida to teaching. He eventually returned to Bemidji to work as a regional delivery driver and salesman while building his family. Later in life, Kirk dedicated himself to serving the most vulnerable in his community, helping them find employment through public assistance programs. His work touched countless lives and left a legacy of service to others before self.
An avid golfer and outdoorsman, Kirk found joy in the beauty of nature and the camaraderie of friends. Above all, he had a deep love for those who had been abandoned, making it his true passion to ensure every person he met felt seen and valued. His humor and genuine care left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Kirk’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he touched.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy C. (Nelson) Henrickson; daughter, Kelly (Jay) Hartlieb; son, Clay (Samantha) Henrickson; brother, Kim (Sherry) Henrickson; sister-in-law, Donna (Ken) Oien; brother-in-law, Ken (Tina) Nelson; seven cherished grandchildren, Leah, Alexandria (Carter), JR, Lizzie, Emilie, Graham, and Bella; and two adored great-grandchildren, Justice and Mila.
Kirk was preceded in death by his parents, Harold L. and Pauline A. (Shoultz) Henrickson.
