Larry John Crutsinger Sr., 76, of Oak Ridge, surrounded by his family, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in the care of Lutheran Home Hospice at Providence Place in the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. The family is eternally grateful to the staff for the professional, compassionate care given to Larry during his final days.
Larry was born on December 19, 1947, in California, Missouri, son of Glenn and Mildred Runge Crutsinger.
Larry developed a love of animals at a young age on his grandparents’ farm. During his high school years at Belle High School, he worked at Grandview Herford Farm and was active in FFA, graduating in 1965. After graduation, he moved to Potosi, where he and Faithrenia “Faith” Morgan were married January 27, 1968. During the Vietnam War, he served honorably in the U.S. Army from March 19, 1968, to March 9, 1970.
Upon completing his military service, Larry returned to Edg-Clif Farms in Potosi, working there over 23 years. He showed registered cattle at local, state, and national livestock shows and sales throughout the central and southern states, developing lifelong friendships in the agriculture industry. After retirement, he drove a livestock truck for his son, Larry Jr.
Larry made a profession of faith as a young boy, so church, family, and friends have always been an important part of his life. He and Faith are longtime members of First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, where Larry enjoyed preparing Thursday morning “Wake-Up-Call Breakfasts” for the students of Oak Ridge High School.
Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 57 years, Faith Crutsinger of Oak Ridge; two sons, Jody (Teri) Crutsinger of Advance and Larry J. (Angela) Crutsinger Jr. of Whitewater; grandchildren, Cassidy (Charles) Holman of Advance, Caden Crutsinger of Advance, Morgan (Steve) Cupp of Caledonia, Missouri, and Lauren Crutsinger of Columbia, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Dianna and Charles Holman, Jamison Cupp, Henry Crider; and two brothers James Crutsinger of Belle and Bob Crutsinger of Kansas City; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time, Sunday, December 22, 2024, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Rev. Cody Fleenor will conduct the funeral service at 3 p.m.
Military honors will be rendered at 11 a.m., Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
