Listen to Obituary

Laura M. Pollard, 58, of Jackson, unexpectedly passed away June 12, 2026, at her home in Fruitland.

Laura was born November 23, 1967, in Cheboygan, Michigan, to Harold Gene and Sharon A. Sloat Harris. She was raised in Afton, Michigan, and graduated from Inland Lakes High School in Indian River, Michigan.

Laura and Paul Pollard were married October 22, 2016, at Cape County Park in Cape Girardeau.

Laura really loved to work, and her career and capabilities were vast. In Michigan, she worked as an agricultural bank loan officer and managed a Rite Aid Store. In Southeast Missouri, she was employed in the cafeteria at Saint Francis Medical Center and Family Dollar in Cape Girardeau; managed the former Jackson Bait and Tackle; at one time, owned and operated her own piercing business, traveled with her trailer to large public events; co-owned and operated the former Ms. Muffin with her sister, Palmi, later assisted Palmi at the Fruitland Farmers’ Market, and she was currently employed at Mondi in Jackson.

Above all, Laura treasured time with her family. She especially enjoyed traveling, visiting nearly all 50 states and traveling abroad. And she shared with her father a passion for quarter horses – training, showing, and barrel-racing at rodeos.

To cherish her memory, Laura leaves her husband of nearly 10 years, Paul Pollard of Jackson; sons, Aaron Harris of Jackson and Ethan Pollard of Poplar Bluff; Braxton Green and Jakob Mungle of Jackson, who she loved as sons; siblings, Palmi (Kevin) Henry of Jackson; Tamara “Tammy” (Corey) Ward of Topinabee, Michigan; Darren Harris of Destin, Florida; dear friends, Elizabeth Price and Delores Gearhart of South Carolina, and Nicky Hines of Nashville, Tennessee; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Rev.
