Rev. Lawrence N. Bradt, 54, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born December 21, 1966, in San Antonio, Texas, son of Barry Bradt and Teresa (Crego) Bradt. He and Deanna Carlson were married October 15, 1985 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She survives. Lawrence was baptized on Feb. 28, 1971 at Zion Lutheran Church in Schnectady, NY and was confirmed on June 12, 1994 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wichita Falls, TX. He graduated from Harbor Creek High School in Harbor Creek, PA. He served in the United States Air Force from 1985 until he was honorably discharged in 2005. Lawrence received a Masters of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was ordained in 2003. He was currently serving as Called minister for Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Wells and Called vacancy pastor at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. He served as Boy Scout Chaplin at Camp Chief Little Turtle in Indiana. Lawrence was a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains while working at the Department of Public Safety at Southeast Missouri State University. He was a founding member of Perry County Lutheran Chorale. Loving survivors include his wife of 35 years, a daughter, Alicia Bradt of Jackson, a son, Adam (Megan) Bradt of Jackson, mother, Teresa Crego of Erie, PA., a half-brother, Eric Kunschke of California. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Richard Bradt. Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2020 from 10 am to noon at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Wells. Funeral service will follow at noon, at the church, with the Rev. Thomas Handrick officiating and assisted by Rev. Wayne Schwiesow. Interment will follow in Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in New Wells, with full military honors. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 304 County Road 316, New Wells, MO 63768 or to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 158 Little Street, Pocahontas, MO 63779.
