Lloyd Charles Masterson

Lloyd Charles Masterson, age 80, of Jackson, passed away Monday, January 09, 2017, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born January 25, 1936 in St. Louis, Mo son of Joe Wilbur and Charlotte Dahill Masterson. He and Inez E. Burgfeld were married February 19, 1960 in Jackson. She preceded him in death May 19, 2010.

Lloyd was a 1955 graduate of Jackson High School. He served in the National Guard while in high school and later enlisted in the United States Air Force June 9, 1955 and was honorably discharged February 14, 1959. Lloyd was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, the Excelsior Masonic Lodge #441, Scottish Rite Valley of St. Louis, Moolah Shrine, Sword of Bunker Hill, Cape Elks Lodge #639, American Legion Post # 158, Cape Eagles #3775, Cape Girardeau VFW Post 3838 Auxiliary, and was a 35 year member of Teamster Local #574, and National Rifle Association.

Lloyd worked as a truck driver many years with Arkansas Best Freight. He also owned and operated Lloyd's Tavern in Jackson since 1973.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Spending time with his family brought great love and joy to his heart. He enjoyed sharing time with his many friends and he lived life to the fullest.

Loving survivors include three children, Linda (Rick) Kremer, Scott (Pam) Masterson, and Teresa (Mike) Hornbeak all of Jackson; six grandchildren, Conrad and Emma Masterson, Jamie (Erik) Rosborg, Brandon (Lauren) Kremer, Tyler Kremer, and Skyler Hornbeak; three great-grandchildren, Collin, Abbey, and Logan Rosborg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother, Joe Wilbur Masterson, Jr., a sister, Betty Ann Farrow, and an infant sister, Sharon Kay Masterson.

Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Thursday, January 12th at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 am Friday, January 13th at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
