Lois Martha Fehrmann, 90, of Jackson fell asleep in the loving arms of her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, December 4, 2023.
She was born on June 15, 1933, in Newton, Kansas, daughter of the late Rev. Berthold and Bernice Bock Loesel. She was first married to Victor Wroge who preceded her in death in 1974. She and Rev. Walter Fehrmann were married on November 1, 1975, in Billings, Montana. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2017.
Lois had a love for music from a very young age. She began playing the organ for church at the age of ten and continued to play until she was eighty-six. She taught piano and organ lessons for fifty years and always had a yearly recital for her students.
Lois always had a garden. She loved to cook and can foods along with making syrups, jams, and homemade meals for her family. For her children, she would make choke-cherry syrup and sourdough pancakes, a special delicacy. She was best known for her dill pickles and dill beans. Lois had a deep and abiding love for anything chocolate.
Lois and Walter spent many years traveling all over the world and she enjoyed journaling about all of their travels and experiences. During one of her trips to Germany, she had the privilege of playing twenty-seven different pipe organs in churches they visited.
Lois was a loving mother who made it a top priority that her family held a firm Christian faith. The most important thing to her was that her family knew the love of Jesus Christ. She was a kind and loving caregiver to her parents and both husbands, Victor and Walter.
She was a deaconess in the Lutheran church, a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, and also a member of the Concordia Guild and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
Lois treasured her family, each and every one. To cherish her memory, she leaves behind six children, The Rev. John (Carol) Fehrmann of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Nathaniel (Amy) Fehrmann of Denver, Colorado, Ronald (Elena) Wroge-Fehrmann of Broomfield, Colorado, Lynette (Jeffrey) Wroge-Hesterman of Prattville, Alabama, Jim (Carol) Wroge of Corning, California, and Steven (Daphne) Wroge of Spokane, Washington; a sister, Esther Wuebben of Peoria, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Lois is preceded in death by a brother, Frederic Loesel; and a sister, Myra Bertram.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 10–11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Altenburg.
