Lyman L. Barks

Lyman L. Barks, age 79, of Lonedell, Missouri passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Crabapple Village Senior Estates in St. Clair, Missouri.

He was born August 16, 1935, in Piedmont, Missouri, son of Louis and Lula Crowell Barks. He and Jane Kenter Thoma were married April 24, 1992 in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Lyman graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Missouri at the age of 14. After high school, he taught grades 1-8 at Holmes Chapel Grade School, a one room school house. He served in the United States Army, and then worked as a supervisor for the United States Post Office, retiring in the early 1990's. While at the Post Office, he volunteered for the St. Louis County Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff Department for many years, and was a board member of the Evangelical Children's Home in St. Louis. Lyman truly enjoyed working on his farm, and restoring cars, trucks, and tractors. He was crazy about his grandchildren, and loved to go deer hunting with his grandsons.

Loving survivors include his wife Jane, of 23 years; three daughters, Roxanna (Ron) Patrick of Wentzville, Missouri, Pam Risch (Bill Mathieu) of St. Louis, Missouri, and Stacie Thoma of Lonedell, Missouri; five grandchildren, Summer, Sean, and Christopher Patrick, and Joshua and Jacob Risch.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Jerry Craft officiating.

Interment will be in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Pocahontas, with full military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to any Parkinson Disease Organization.
