Mable Shrum, 85, of Cape Girardeau, MO, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
Mable was born August 8, 1935 in Perry County, Mo, daughter to the late Henry and Esther Weibricht Ehlers. She and J. E. “Bill” Shrum were married October 23, 1954 in Cape Girardeau; he passed away June 24, 2013.
Mable attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School in Perryville before graduating from Perryville Public High School. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother as well as a devoted care giver. She had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1954 where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She and Bill volunteered each year to man the booth at the SEMO District Fair. Mable was also a life time member of VFW Post 3838 Ladies Auxiliary.
Loving survivors include, two grandsons, John E. Hill of Jacksonville, FL and Scott Hill of Manhattan, KS four brothers, Paul (Toni) Ehlers of Maryland Heights, MO, H. Melvin Ehlers of Hazelwood, MO, Robert (Carol) Ehlers of Springtown, TX and Richard (Pam) Ehlers of Lebanon, OH, a sister Carol (Mike) Jackson of Abingdon, VA and a son-in-law John W. Hill of Manhattan, KS.
In addition to her husband Bill, she was preceded in death by a daughter Deborah Hill, two brothers Edward and Henry Ehlers and a sister Dorothy Turner.
Visitation will be Friday, June 11, 2021 from 10 am till service time at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 am on Friday at the Church with Rev Douglas Breite officiating Burial will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield MO. at 2:00 pm.
