Mamie E. Gibbs, age 95, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Cape Town Assisted Living in Cape Girardeau, MO.
On September 2, 1930, in Jackson, MO, she was born to the late Emery and Bessie Masters Slinkard.
Mamie married the love of her life John L. Gibbs on July 23, 1948, in Piggott, Arkansas. Mr. Gibbs preceded her in death on August 27, 2000.
Mamie had been employed at Jackson Hosiery Mill, Lenco, and lastly Link Electric before her retirement.
She was of the Baptist faith and had been a thirty plus year member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Kent (Jean) Gibbs of Jackson, MO; her daughter Patsy Jo (Billy) Edwards of Chester, IL; one sister, Carolyn (J.D.) Collins of St. Charles, MO; her grandchildren: Jeff Edwards of St. Charles, MO, Brandon Murphy of O’Fallon, MO, Amanda Edwards of Ottawa, IL, Amy Hess of Chester, IL, Cole Thomas of Jackson, MO, Justin (Lauryn)Gibbs of Franklin, TN, Kalli (Derek) Brucker of Jackson, MO; her great grand Children: Alex (Kaitlyn) Moore of Chester, IL, Christopher (Hannah) Brooks of Streator, IL, Jake Edwards of St. Charles, MO; her great great grandchildren: Marshall, Lilly and Landon Gibbs of Franklin, TN, Collins and Claire Brucker of Jackson, MO, Dax and Beck Moore of Chester, IL, and Liam Brooks of Streator, IL.
Mamie loved country music. In fact, so much that one of her favorite past times had been going to fan fair in Nashville, TN, and visiting Graceland. She loved anything that was performed by Alan Jackson or Elvis Presley.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1:00 p.m. at the McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Dr. Brian Anderson, Pastor of Crossroads Church in Jackson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, MO.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society in Mamie’s honor.
