Margaret Ann Ettling, 84, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee. She was born on March 31, 1941, in Rochester, Illinois, to Howard H. and Martha Peters Hadsall. She and William Ettling were married June 26, 1960, in Witt, Illinois. They had been married nearly 64 years when he passed on May 31, 2024. Margaret was a graduate of Witt High School. She attended Lincoln Bible College in Lincoln, Illinois and later at Southeast Missouri State University. Margaret was a member at Mount Auburn Christian Church, where she formerly played piano, taught Sunday school, and served as the church secretary. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and cooking. Margaret was an avid fan of Southeast Missouri State University and Jackson athletics always tuning into the radio broadcasts. To cherish her memory, she leaves her children: Wilma (Ronald) Fluegge of Whitewater, Missouri; Patty (Ted) Kocot of St. Louis; Rebecca (Jerry) Aufdenberg of Gravel Hill, Missouri; William Ettling Jr., of Belleville, Illinois; and Joe Ettling of Jackson; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson; parents; and three siblings. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 10 a.m. to service time, Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Mount Auburn Christian Church in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Casey Elmore will conduct the funeral ceremony at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Interment will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
