Margaret “Margie” Fay Loos, 86, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 15, 1939, in Perryville, Missouri, to Lonnie and Lucilla Fay (Miles) Zahner. She and Richard “Dick” Lloyd Loos were married November 5, 1977. They had been married nearly 44 years when Dick passed away November 3, 2021.

Margie attended school in Perryville. She worked many years for the Cape Girardeau Public Schools.

She enjoyed country music, dancing, playing cards, and hanging out with her sisters, but her greatest pleasure was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Margie and Dick were members of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

To cherish her memory, Margie leaves two children, Brenda (Mike) Broe, of Atlanta, Georgia, Lisa (Lindell) Poole of Jackson; two step daughters, Kim (Charles) Keller of Jackson, Kelly Bates of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren: Kelsey Broe, Alex (Brittany) Broe, Lindsay (Franchon Hurt) Poole,Lexi Poole, Kaitlin Bates, Chip Bates, and Nicholas Keller; great-grandchildren, Asher Ide, Baker Broe, Blakely Broe, and Falcon Hurt; four sisters, Mary Kirn, Debbie (Denny) Thieret, Linda Hudson, and Lawana Kirn.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; step mother, Gladys Zahner; grandson, Derick Bates; four brothers, David, Dale, Ron, and Larry Zahner; three brothers in law, Sylvester Kirn, Don Kirn, and Cecil Hudson.

Margie personally arranged to donate her body to St. Louis University Gift Body Program. Hence, there is no visitation or ceremony.

If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests the Alzheimer’s Association.
