Marilyn Freeman

January 2, 1942 — December 25, 2017

Marilyn Kay Freeman, 75, of Marble Hill, formerly of Jackson, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 at St Francis Medical Center. She was born January 2, 1942 daughter of Rex and Lucille Urhahn Dempster. She and Philip Freeman were married September 30, 1967. He survives.

Marilyn was a 1963 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. She was a physical education teacher at Marvin Elementary School in the St Louis area from 1963 to 1971. She served as a secretary at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson and an activity director at several nursing facilities in the Jackson and Cape Girardeau area, including Jackson Manor. Marilyn retired in 2008. She was a devoted wife, mother, and was a mom to many other boys.

Loving survivors include her husband, Philip Freeman of Marble Hill, a son, Chris (Julie) Freeman of Bogard, MO, 2 grandchildren, Easton Freeman and Samantha Collins, an aunt, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Charlie Hale and grandparents.

A memorial visitation will be 5-7 pm Friday, December 29, 2017 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. A memorial service will begin at 7 pm with Rev Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or American Cancer Society.
