Marjorie “Margie” Bishop, 92, of Oran passed away Friday, August 8, 2025, at Chateau Girardeau.
She was born on September 6, 1932, in Johnson County, Indiana, daughter of Robert and Amy Boles Weddle. She married Delbert Bishop Sr. on May 13, 1951, in Amity, Indiana, and was a dedicated pastor’s wife for over 50 years. They had been married 63 years when he passed away on November 12, 2014.
Margie was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Oran. She had a passion for quilting, gardening, baking, and canning. Margie was dedicated to caring for her family, sharing God’s love with all those she met and enjoyed sharing stories of her blessed life with others.
Loving survivors include three sons, Delbert “Dean” (Patti) Bishop Jr. of Dexter, Jeffrey Bishop of St. Louis and Tim (Deborah) Bishop of Oran; four grandchildren, Beau (Crystal) Bishop of Dexter, Megan (Danny) Wilson of Dexter, Jessica Bishop of Lincoln, Nebraska and Nicholas Bishop of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; great-grandchildren, Madison and Shelby Bishop, Liam, Emery and Pearce Wilson; a great-great-granddaughter Daisy Marie; a sister, Kathy Bishop of Chaffee; many nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Bruce Bishop and 15 brothers and sisters.
The visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Pastor Jason Brown will conduct the funeral service at 1 p.m., on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in New Bethel Church Cemetery in Pocahontas.
The family suggests that contributions be made to New Bethel Church Cemetery or the Alzheimer’s Association.
