Marticia “Marty” Schrader

March 25, 1926 — November 18, 1974

Marticia "Marty" Schrader, 89, of Cape Girardeau, passed away peacefully, Monday, November 23, 2015, surrounded by her daughters and son-in-law, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 25, 1926, in Commerce, Missouri, to J. Edwin and Freida Will Blank. She and Harlan L. "Dutch" Schrader were married April 14, 1950, in Cape Girardeau. Their ceremony was performed by the Rev. Arno H. Franke, pastor of the Evangelical and Reformed Church, of which she was a member. They had been married 24 years when Dutch passed away November 18, 1974.

Marty attended the former Brooks Elementary School and the former College High School. During WWII, she worked as a welder in Kaiser Shipyard No. 3 in Richmond, California. Upon returning to Cape, her employment included the former International Shoe Factory; the former Woolworth Store; and the former Rose City Rides.

She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, its LWML and Altar Guild, and was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Junior Ladies Aid.

Her other affiliations include Saint Francis Hospital Auxiliary, a volunteer at Saint Francis Hospital, and volunteer at the American Red Cross blood drives.

Loving survivors include two daughters, Sheri Schrader-Turner and husband Steven of Jackson, Teri Schrader of Cape Girardeau; a sister-in-law, Hazel Blank of Cape Girardeau; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Freddy Blank; an infant brother; and an infant sister.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 25, 2015, from 10 AM to service time, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be Wednesday, at noon, at the church, with the Rev. Mark Martin officiating.

Interment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
