Melvin W. Riehn, 93, of Millersville, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022, at his home.
He was born December 16, 1928, in Kurreville, Missouri, to Fred and Sarah Niswonger Riehn. He was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He and Betty J. Jones were married May 6, 1950, in Millersville.
Melvin was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Millersville, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He also volunteered at Peaceful Valley Church Camp and went on mission trips in the United States and South America.
Mel worked for Crosnoe Construction, Max Stovall Construction, and then established Melvin Riehn Construction. He worked in residential construction, made cabinets, and clocks.
Loving survivors include his wife of 72 years, Betty Riehn of Millersville; two children, Kay (Bruce) Hoffman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kenn (Pamela) Riehn of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Riehn (Herbie) Harris of Kansas; nine grandchildren, Clayton (Emily), Nathan, Michael, Leah (David), Ian (Veronique), Sam (Jennifer), Emily (Layne), Seth, and Lydia; and 10 great-grandchildren, Owen, Paige, Cole, Grace, Liliane, Theo, Lincoln, Monroe, Thaddeus, Everly Jo; and a sister, Betty Williamson of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Melvin Riehn; an infant grandson, Tony Riehn; his parents; and three brothers, Hobart, Jay, and Jerry Riehn.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2022, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9:30 a.m. to service time, Saturday, November 12, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Millersville.
The Rev. Bill Jetton will conduct the funeral service at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the church. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with the Rev. Jason Grubbs officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates memorial contributions to First Baptist Church in Millersville.
