Nancy Suhr

Nancy Mae Suhr, 94, of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born September 12, 1923, in Jackson, to Frank and Grace Ann Morrison Dickerson. She and Fred Harding Suhr were married November 26, 1949, in Pocahontas, Missouri. The couple operated a farm for many years. They had been married 40 years when Fred passed away January 9, 1990.

Nancy was a 1941 graduate of Jackson High School. During WWII, she was employed through the Civil Service as an inspector at a parachute factory in Detroit, Michigan. Upon returning to Jackson, she worked at the former Hosiery Mill and then 20 years at Saint Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1980.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim and a member of the former Old Salem Homemakers Club.

Loving survivors include two sons, Carl Suhr and dear friend Carol Ruesler of Jackson, Paul Suhr and wife Sue of Oak Ridge; five grandsons, Jarrod, Justin, Clay, Colby, and Cole Suhr; two sisters-in-law, Myra (the late John) Dickerson of Marble Hill, Verna (the late Kenneth) Suhr of Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Dickerson; a sister, Mary Dell Wolfe, and a daughter-in-law, Judy Suhr.

To the staffs of Monticello House and Southeast Hospice, the Suhr family extends sincere thanks for the compassionate care they gave to their mother and grandmother.

Visitation is Monday, October 2, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m., at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral is Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Roger Steinbrueck officiating. Burial will follow at Kurreville Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the general fund of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim or Kurreville Cemetery, 2745 CR 472, Oak Ridge, MO 63769.
