Noma Lee “Tince” Noland

Noma L. "Tince" Noland, 90 of Jackson, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Jackson.

She and her sister, Oma, were born May 30, 1925 in Jackson, daughters of Luther "Heck" and Alice M. Miller Crites. They were known as The Crites Twins. Noma and Gerald Carlton "Bud" Noland were married December 28, 1957 at New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson. They were married nearly 55 years when Bud passed away September 15, 2012.

In her younger years, Noma attended Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson and joined Wesley United Methodist Church in Fruitland after marriage. She and Bud joined Emanuel U.C.C in 2010.

Noma was one of the first drum majorettes for Jackson High School, under the direction of Mr. Mason. She worked at the hosiery mill and shoe factory in Jackson, Thorngate, and Tri-con in Cape Girardeau, and the hat factory in Marble Hill. Noma was a great seamstress; she made many of the clothes for her children and grandchildren.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Alice (Randy) Quigley of Jackson; three granddaughters, Laura (Roy) Givens of Burna, Kentucky, Carla Quigley of Jackson, and Ali (Jeremy) Bryant of Sikeston, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Kyle Noland Quigley of Burna, and Abygale Faye Bryant of Sikeston; a cousin, Margie Stearns of Perryville; and her toy poodle, Maggie.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susie Noland, four great-grandchildren, Elisha, Avery, Kaiden, and Jalan Bryant, two sisters, Oma Meier and Laretha Niswonger, and a brother, Verlin "Buddy" Crites.

The visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The memorial service will be at noon on Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Joe Rowley and Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Inurnment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family suggests that contributions be made to Jackson Senior Center Meals on Wheels.
