Norma Haertling

Norma B. Haertling, 88, of New Wells passed away October 30, 2017, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born February 26, 1929, in Altenburg, Missouri, daughter of Hugo and Bertha Weber Richter. She and Vernon Haertling were married May 23, 1954. He preceded her in death June 1, 2007.

Norma was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg. In 1991 she and her husband became members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. Norma was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and took great pride in her family. An awesome homemaker who mastered countless skills while living and working on the family farm. She spent many hours outside in the garden and with her flowers. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and embroidery.

Survivors include two sons, Stan (Chris) Haertling and Christopher (Amy) Haertling, both of New Wells; three daughters, Glenda (Tom) Nations and Connie (Dan) Peiffer of Jackson, and Bonnie (Bob) Schulte of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, R.J. (Madeline) Schulte, Megan (Matt) Moore, Amanda and Blake Peiffer, Anna and Brett Haertling, and Allison and Jackson Haertling. Two great-grandchildren Landon Schulte and Thomas Moore; two brothers, Edward and Raymond Richter, one brother-in-law, Elmer (Carol) Boehme; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Glenn Haertling, three sisters and one brother, six sisters -in-law and five brothers -in-law.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be Friday, November 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Eric Longman officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Paul Lutheran Church or school or charity of your choice.
