Norman Meyer

August 30, 1942 — June 5, 2023

Norman Robert Meyer was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. He passed away peacefully Monday, June 5, 2023, at the age of 80.

Norm was born Aug. 30, 1942, in Cape Girardeau to the late Edgar and Meta Meyer.

He received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from University of Missouri-Rolla. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy. Shortly after, he met his first wife of 50 years, Carol Frances Hahs, on a hayride at a youth group event. They married and moved to Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, where Norm served as an officer with the Seabees.

He returned home and began working for the Trane Commercial Air Conditioning division sales office in La Crosse, Wisconsin. They moved to Evansville, Indiana, where their children were born. Later, Norm was transferred to Louisville, where he spent the remainder of his life.

He married his current wife, Brenda, on April 24, 2021. He was blessed to fall in love again after meeting Brenda at a Bible study. Together they enjoyed cooking, traveling and gardening.

Norm was detail oriented, an amazing note taker and the ultimate record keeper. He was loving, kind, positive, upbeat, fun loving, hardworking and a proficient cartographer. He loved his family, traveling, working in the yard, serving others, was always up for a good meal and was a lifelong learner who always wanted to experience new things.

Norm was a member of Southeast Christian Church and a passionate follower of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; his children, Jeffrey Meyer, Tamara Meyer Meadows and Andrew Meyer (Priscila Borges); and siblings, Dottie (Don) McCutchen and Cari (Bob) Krejci.

Norm was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Carol.
