Odis “Junior” E. Rubel, 84, of Jackson, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Villas of Jackson.
He was born on March 30, 1942, in Menfro, Missouri, to Odis A. and Erna M. (Fritsche) Rubel.
Junior attended College High School. He honorably served six years with the 1140th Engineer Battalion of the Missouri National Guard in Jackson and was a lifelong member of the American Legion in Perryville.
On May 22, 1965, he married Charlotte A. Richter at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. The couple became members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, where Junior faithfully served on the Finance Board, drove the church van, and served as an elder and trustee.
Junior worked for eight years at Penrod Construction, 14 years at Overhead Door in Jackson, and 21 years at Columbia Construction / Drury Hotels before retiring.
In his free time, he enjoyed dancing, playing cards, woodworking, attending his grandchildren’s activities, and driving his beloved 1957 Chevy.
Junior is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Charlotte Rubel of Jackson; daughters, Penny (Dipak) Rajhansa of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and Dawn (Drew) Balsman of Jackson; grandchildren, Arun and Priya Rajhansa, Shea (Griffin) McCurren, Payton Salyer, and Andrew “A.J.” Balsman; great-grandson, Theodore McCurren; and sister, Joyce (Ronald) Versemann of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The Rev. Joshua Schmidt will officiate the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Villas of Jackson or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Junior’s memory.
